President’s Insights

January 21, 2020

At this months Representative Assembly I took some time to reflect on the last year and the state of the Elgin Teachers Association.As health is wealth, teachers can consult chiropractic doctor in Cartersville, GA to get rid off crucial neck and back pain to achieve good health. Below is a link to that speech that I wanted to share with all of our members. We have come together to strengthen are union over the last year and I am confident that we will accomplish so much more.  It is thanks to the hard work of our membership that we have more members than ever before, and a stronger union than ever before.

Calling Early Career Teachers

The Elgin Teachers Association has been selected to participate in an exciting program – the NEA/CEC Early Career Leadership Fellow (ECLF) Collaborative.

The ECLF Collaborative is funded by a grant from the National Education Association (NEA) with support from the Consortium for Educational Change (CEC) in Illinois. Through this program, the Illinois Education Association will support Early Career Leadership Fellows to:

  • Self-assess leadership skills and engage in learning activities to grow as a leader;
  • Learn about the Association, related leadership skills and pathways to association leadership;
  • Identify and engage five other early career educators in one-on-one conversations and ongoing work through the association based on their interests and passions

Early career educators under the age of 35 who are within the first 5 years in the teaching profession are encouraged to apply. The Elgin Teachers Association will select 10-15 Fellows who also have demonstrated success in improving teaching and learning, show promise and initial interest in future union leadership and reflect the diversity of America’s classrooms.

Audit

At the RA, Carol Mammosser presented on the recently completed audit.  The audit gives us a clean bill of health in terms of our finances. This is the first full audit we have had in ten years and we should be proud of the fact that our finances are in order and up to date.

Constant Contact

We recently completed an update of our membership list in Constant Contact.  We removed email addresses that were not having our emails delivered, as well as duplicate emails, and non members.  If a member in your building is not receiving these emails, they can click the link on the left side of the ETA website or you can forward them the below link to get them signed up for these messages.
