PAR Program seeks to expand

The PAR Panel met in December and conducted a mid year review of the
PCT’s work.  Feedback and suggestions were given. In January, the
Panel met for a full morning and began work on staffing needs, updates
for the PAR Handbook, Stage 2 of PAR, & Reconsideration Guidelines.
Panel is suggesting the hiring of at least 1 additional Peer
Consulting Teacher.  Panel made suggestions to the Handbook on lay out
and topics.   In Stage 2 PAR, teachers in year 3 & 4 along with ENT in
year 2 who receive a Danielson Basic rating will continue to be given
the option of participating in PAR.  Teachers in years 3 or 4 and ENT
in year 2 will continue choose to self nominate. New to Stage 2,
tenured teachers who receive an ISBE summative rating of Needs
Improvement will also be given the option of PAR.    Panel feels it is
important that PAR remain a teacher option not a mandate.  Three
subcommittees were formed to work on Reconsideration, data and to develop an
end of year survey.  Updates from subcommittees will be at our
Feb 8th meeting.
